In Demand: The Hottest Items on the Market!

And so the rush begins…

I’m one of those people that tend to scope out all new arrivals in the retail market. From crazy fashion trends to cell phones that act simultaneously as a computer, TV, and music device, I like to be up on the latest happenings. The last time I picked up a video game was in the age of SEGA, but I still know when new games and gaming software hits the market (Bill Gates recently hosted a release party for Halo 3 at the Bellevue Best Buy).

Perhaps why I find retail so intriguing, other than my intense love of shopping, is that I’ve worked in retail for four years. I’ve gained great insight as to how the business works – selling techniques, how prices are set and times when a company is able to profit substantially.

I can tell you without doubt that the prime time of selling in retail is holiday. The holiday season forces those non-shoppers, such as my dad, to brave the world of full parking lots, chaotic stores, and long lines. And it starts just a little earlier than you might think. Summer sales (such as the noted Nordstrom Anniversary Sale) kick of the season followed by Labor Day sales, Thanksgiving sales and then the infamous “holiday” sales. So beginning right now, I will be bringing you information on the hottest items that the Seattle area has to offer for the 2007 holiday season. Whether an avid shopper or a skeptical consumer, I hope my blog can help you learn just a little bit more about the retail market and who knows, it may even help you find that “perfect thing” you’re looking for.
